OUR MISSION, VISION & VALUES
American Legion Post 439 | Saginaw, Michigan
Honoring Our Veterans. Strengthening Our Community. Building a Legacy of Service.
The American Legion was founded on a promise made by the men and women who proudly served our country — a promise to defend our nation, honor those who sacrificed, and continue serving long after their military service has ended.
For more than a century, The American Legion has supported veterans, military personnel, and their families while promoting patriotism, mentoring future generations, and strengthening communities across America.
At American Legion Post 439, we proudly carry on that tradition by creating a welcoming place where veterans, families, and friends come together through service, fellowship, and community involvement.
OUR MISSION
Serving Those Who Served
The American Legion's official mission, adopted in October 2020, is:
“To enhance the well-being of America's veterans, their families, our military, and our communities by our devotion to mutual helpfulness.”
At Post 439, we bring this mission to life by supporting veterans and their families, encouraging volunteerism, hosting community events, and providing a place where friendships and connections can grow.
Veterans are the reason we exist. Service is what we do.
OUR VISION
Veterans Strengthening America
The American Legion's vision is:
“The American Legion: Veterans Strengthening America.”
Our vision at Post 439 is to continue growing as a welcoming, active, and respected gathering place for veterans, their families, and the Saginaw community.
Through our members, volunteers, renovated facilities, and growing calendar of activities, we strive to create opportunities for fellowship, community service, and meaningful connections while preserving the traditions of The American Legion for future generations.

We proudly honor our nation's flag, uphold the Constitution, support equal opportunity, encourage responsible citizenship, and remember those who sacrificed for our freedoms.
FAMILY & COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
We support military families and respond to the needs of our local community. At Post 439, we bring people together through special events, community gatherings, fundraising, and fellowship.
ADVANCING THE VISION
We encourage and mentor future generations, promote membership and involvement, and work to ensure the American Legion's mission continues for years to come.
HONOR THOSE WHO CAME BEFORE US
We remember and honor the service and sacrifices of our nation's veterans, especially those who gave their lives defending our freedoms. Their legacy will never be forgotten.
MORE THAN A POST — WE'RE A LEGION FAMILY
American Legion Post 439 is more than a meeting place. It's a community built on friendship, respect, patriotism, and a shared commitment to serving others.
As our Post continues to grow, we remain dedicated to welcoming new members, supporting our veterans, improving our facilities, and providing opportunities for our community to come together.
Our Legionnaires, Auxiliary, Sons of the American Legion, and dedicated volunteers are the heart of everything we do.
Together, we honor our past, celebrate our present, and build a stronger future for American Legion Post 439.
